I had one. It never broke down, but there was one time I couldn't start if because the clutch slave cylinder blew, which meant no pressing the clutch to start. It DID rust prematurely though.

If you can't start your car it means it's broken down.

I guess I didn't think of it as a full breakdown because it was a simple enough thing to fix and not really a problem with the engine. Free tow to the dealer thanks to my insurance's roadside assistance, and a few hours and couple hundred bucks later it had a new slave cylinder and was good as new.
